Handbook / Running the job
Field Mode
A separate, phone-first view that shows one person only what they are on the hook for.
Field Mode is not the office view made narrow. It is its own interface, with targets big enough to hit with gloves on, and it shows one person their own work and nothing else. Somebody whose role is field-only lands here on sign-in and never sees the office at all.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| My work | Their open work orders, most urgent first, with tasks to tick |
| Punch | Punch items assigned to them |
| Schedule | Their own diary - the next four weeks, a day at a time |
| Photos | The camera, and what has been uploaded |
| Office | A way back, for anyone who has both |
Their diary
Not the company's wall board shrunk onto a phone. Each day lists the jobs they are on, and each job leads with the time they are expected on site and the address as a maps link. A job running Monday to Thursday appears on all four days, marked continuing after the first, because on Wednesday morning what matters is that they are still meant to be there.
The camera
One tap, straight into the project file, tagged with whoever is signed in. That last part is the whole point of a contractor uploading from their own phone rather than emailing pictures to the office. Photos are staged as before, during, after or issue, and an issue photograph is very often what a change order gets built from.
The work order also shows them what the client photographed when they first described the work - so they see the room as the client saw it before they walk into it.
What else they can do from site
Tick tasks. Log hours against a cost code. Record materials used. Mark a milestone complete. Post a note to the office and name somebody in it. File the daily log - weather, crew count, what was done, what held things up. Complete a punch item and send it back for verification.
Undoing things
| What happened | The way back |
|---|---|
| Photo uploaded to the wrong job | Delete it and upload it again. Whoever took it can delete their own. |
| Hours logged wrong | Edit or delete the time entry. Job cost recalculates immediately. |
| Task ticked by mistake | Untick it. |
| Marked a job complete on site | The office can put it back to in progress. |
Access: Field access. Most crew roles have it and little else.
